Introduction
This game was brought to us by the independent games producer MORPHUN and was coded by Johan Andersen and graphics by Daniel Westergren. As you can see in the title of the review you will probably guess that the game under the scope is a rally racer, it looks so good you could imagine yourself playing a PSX. It is also a real show off to the N-gage's 3D capabilities.
Gameplay
Rally Pro Contest has three different modes of game play, first of all you have the time trial where you can stamp your mark on one of twelve tracks or review all of the best previous records for each track. There are not any time records to start with so you can be seen as the fastest that is until one of your friend's gets hold of you N-gage and smashes you time. Secondly there is the championship mode, this where I feel the game gets a bit more challenging for all you die hard mobile racers. In this mode you get a chance to increase your car selection which to begin with is just one car, so when you do unlock them you definitely feel like you've earned them. To actually unlock the cars you have to get trophies, bronze unlocks the first car, silver the next and so on. Each car you unlock is faster and has more grip than the last, in the end you should have four cars for your taking. The finale mode is in my opinion the best and most enjoyable, this is the multi player mode where you and your buddy can link up via wireless blue tooth connection and hit the track to show whose king behind the wheel. The good thing about this is that no matter what car you choose it will always have the same properties as your opponent's car so there will be no unfair advantages, it's all down to the racers.
Graphics
If you want a game to prove that the N-gage can handle fast paced 3D graphics then this is the game to do so. Whilst in a race you see that the background scenery looks great for a handheld title and as for the movement of the cars, they move in pure fluidness. The actual cars them selves aren't done in much detail and I suppose if they where it would slow the running speed down so detail would probably ruin the game anyway.
Sound
The sound in this game is a bit hit and miss as the engine sounds from the cars don't differ in likeness although they do sound quite realistic and meaty. A negative point with the sound is the annoying menu selection sound and during the race there is no music, so I would rate this as a just below average sounding game.
Lastability
This game is a challenge for both an all round gamer and a hardcore race gamer alike, especially in the championship mode where you really have to drive like a pro if you want to unlock all of the tracks and cars. One thing you will never get bored of is the multi player mode which always guaranteed a laugh.
Conclusion
Overall I would say that this game plays awesome, looks great, sounds ok and is a rally game! I mean it's really worth buying if you've got an N-gage or another symbian (series60) based device.
